In the heart of McMinnville, Tennessee, where the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone transitions gracefully between the warmer 7b and 8b, Hale & Hines Nursery Inc stands as a testament to the art and precision of large-scale tree cultivation. As dawn breaks over the sprawling 200-acre landscape, the gentle rustle of leaves whispers secrets of growth and resilience, a testament to the nursery's dedication since its early days in the spring of 2003. This is not just any nursery; it is a veritable arboretum where every tree tells its own story, nurtured meticulously to grace landscapes all over the nation.

Hale & Hines specializes in the cultivation of large container-grown shade and flowering trees, an expertise that has made it a trusted name among wholesalers, garden centers, municipalities, and landscapers. With a carefully curated selection of over 400 varieties of container trees and more than 60 types of field-grown trees, the nursery is a hub of botanical diversity. Amongst its most sought-after offerings are the fiery Red Maples, the elegant Japanese Maples, and the stately Flowering Dogwoods, each variety cultivated with a passion that can be seen in the vibrant hues and sturdy limbs of these magnificent specimens.

As you wander deeper into the nursery's expansive grounds, the myriad of tree varieties presents an impressive panorama of botanic richness. There are the uniquely beautiful Southern Magnolias, famed for their fragrant blossoms, and the Deciduous Magnolias, captivating with their seasonal transformations. The mighty Oaks, with their majestic canopies, stand as pillars of strength alongside the fan-leaved Ginkgo trees, whose lineage traces back to prehistoric times, offering a living connection to earth's ancient past.

Hale & Hines Nursery’s commitment to quality doesn’t stop at simply growing these trees. Each plant is nurtured in 15, 30, and 45-gallon containers, ensuring they develop the resilience and robustness necessary to thrive post-planting. This meticulous attention to container production is complemented by their field-grown trees, which see evergreens reaching heights of 24 feet and shade trees growing to a 6-inch caliper. Their offerings also include flowering dogwoods and redbuds up to 4 inches caliper, emphasizing the nursery's dedication to providing mature specimens ready to make an immediate impact in landscape installations.

While the nursery does not offer retail or direct delivery, its central location in middle Tennessee serves as a logistical advantage, enabling the shipment of trees to clients across Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast United States. This strategic geographical position, coupled with the region's moderate climate, creates the perfect conditions for nurturing a wide diversity of tree species that can adapt to various climates and landscapes across the country.

A visit to Hale & Hines is not complete without acknowledging the mastery that goes into its tree production. From the Acer Ginnala 'Ruby Slippers' to Carpinus Betulus 'Franz Fontaine', and the uniquely structured Chionanthus Retusus 'Tokyo Tower', the nursery offers a selection of trees that not only adorn the landscape but also enrich the soul of every space they occupy.
